If you do decide to purchase a bunk bed for your child`s room, be sure you purchase one with safety features. At the minimum the bed should have a secure rail on the upper bunk and a stabilized ladder. Avoid beds with no rail or with a ladder that is simply propped up against the bed.
The design of the classic bunk bed has more or less stayed the same over the years, which is a testament to the ingenuity of the original idea. It`s difficult to improve a perfect design and the simple idea of having two individual bed frames which can be stacked to save space is one which remains as popular today as it has always done.
And it`s sociable. Kids love to sleep near each other. It gives them a sense of familiarity, and it gives them comfort when it`s dark, or windy, or raining.
A child that falls from the height of a top bunk and hits their head could be seriously injured. The good news is it is possible to purchase a safe bunk bed. Teach your child some general safety rules and add an additional bed rail to prevent accidents.
Most of the time it can be found in kids` bedrooms, and it is largely used to accommodate two children of roughly the same age. The majority of bunk beds of this type can be split into two separate units, which adds some practical value to the concept.
As of late, however, many parents choose these larger beds even if their children are still too small to actually need them; the reasoning is, the extra space provides more comfort regardless of the child`s size, and there is no need to worry the kids will outgrow this piece of furniture: if sturdy enough, a full over full bunk bed will see them through teenage years and beyond.
